When you live on the lake access to your portion of the waterway is very important. Our client’s access was an old crumbly set of wooden stairs down a very steep grade. The stair were giving way with each and every trip up and down the bank. At the end of the stairs was an all wooden landing that had long seen it’s best days.
First the boys and I tore out the old wooden stairs. Then we tore out the landing that met the waters edge. Time and water had left the boards completely dilapidated. We took some of the rocks and set our area for the base of the new deck, we set and made pillars in the water according to the standards of the Home Owners Association at Spring Lake. We then made and adhered the deck on it’s properly calculated polyethylene flotation buoys and constructed the walkway connecting new steps to the 12×10 deck. For a finishing touch a ladder was attached to the side as the homeowner was an avid canoe enthusiast.
This type of dock is versatile, durable and can be configured to fit most any need. In this case the dock is being used as a swimming platform and to dock a canoe up to for easy access. The floatation buoys need very little if any maintenance for life making them very cost efficient.
