Bill, my partner and I was recently subcontracted to finish a Fireplace & Mantle for a Northeast Missouri client.

The fireplace itself was set by Peter’s Heating &  Cooling of Kirksville, MO.  Bill and I set all brick faux stone.  Each brick had to be hand cut, shaped and placed.    The mantle however, was a special piece hand selected and cut by the homeowners father, a retired logger who still owns his own mill.  It was a special privilege to be able to work with him and see his craft.   The mantle was finished by Bill and I with an epoxy resin while still being left with it’s rough cut finish giving it just the right rustic touch.  The transom or hearth was made from marble stone tile.  This project took us just under 5 days to complete.
